Bakers Bar and Kitchen inherits its name from the original building that this causal eatery inhabits. This historic listed building was once home to a bakery which supplied the Royal Navy with bread and baked goods, positioned ideally on the edge of Royal Clarence Marina. While much of the interior has now changed, those interested in history may like to know that the building’s original ovens are still intact and the current team have chosen to make them a design feature of the bar and dining area.
As previously mentioned, the venue’s waterside location means that guests benefit from lovely views out to the marina, which look particularly nice when enjoyed from the outdoor seating on a sunny day.
The menus are built from an ethos of investing in local suppliers and serving fresh, wholesome ingredients – something which even extends to the drinks list. For example, Bakers Bar and Kitchen stocks beers, gin and coffee from suppliers in the surrounding areas and the staff are happy to talk to customers about how they champion local business.
There are two menus to pick from: breakfast and brunch which is served from 10am until noon at the weekend, as well as a main menu which boasts pizzas, burgers and large plates. Examples of what you’ll find on the brunch menu are a breakfast pizza or fruit pancakes, while the main menu showcases the likes of sharing camembert and gammon steak.
