Bab is an independent restaurant located in the Northern Quarter of Manchester, serving unique kebabs, meze, cocktails and desserts. The menu is thoughtfully crafted using many local ingredients, all dishes at Bab are made in-house by their talented chefs, including all flatbreads and favourites. The restaurant is small and simply decorated, there are wooden tables, a small bar area and a window to the open kitchen.
If you’re looking for nibbles and sharers the meze menu is full of tempting plates such as hummus and flatbreads, roasted tiger prawns served with sourdough and lamb moussaka croquettes made with feta cheese and smoked paprika. Perhaps you’ll go for the Yorkshire pudding with roast beef and Bab gravy, or the crispy chicken wings made with Scotch bonnet and molasses.
When it comes to the Babs menu there is a wide choice including flat iron steak served with whipped cheese and truffle, and the lamb adana served with kebab shop salad, feta and pistachio. Other kebabs on the menu include roast turkey served with a choice of cranberry sauce or pigs in blankets, and a chickpea shawarma with halloumi.
Sides include paprika fries, halloumi fries, and the Bab side salad.
There is also a Bab lunch menu which includes a selection of smaller plates, plus an early bird menu which is available from 3pm to 6pm.
If you’re looking to finish off your meal with some homemade desserts, take a look at the chocolate chip cookie skillet served with ice cream – flavours include Turkish delight and sour cherry, or the pistachio fragipan served with honey and lemon yoghurt and lemon curd.
There is a large drinks menu which features lots of soft drinks, plus iced coffees, beer and cocktails. The cocktails are unique and thoughtful, perhaps you’ll go for a lychee fizz, or a butterscotch buttershot made with vodka and espresso.
