SquareMeal Review of Attic Bar
Bronze Award
Previously only available for private hire, London’s second loftiest sky-lounge (trumped by Gong, four storeys higher) now opens from Tuesday to Saturday. It’s worth dressing up for this flash penthouse, which feels like the sort of jazzy space where Harry Connick Jnr might come to croon. If you can tear yourself away from the wraparound vista, you’ll discover a curious cast of cocktails from £9.50 (less during the 5-7pm happy hour): Matt the Rat (spiced rum and Cointreau with orange juice and lemonade), Mr Yoda, a Geisha, a Trouble Maker, a Red Headed Slut, Carla Bruni and, somewhat out of his comfort zone, Jack Straw (do they really mean the former cabinet minister?). Westminster grandees could certainly afford the prices, which aren’t as towering as the setting (wine from £24 and sharing platters from just £13). Whether they’ll groove to DJs until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays is moot.
