The second site for this Venezuelan venture is located in Bethnal Green. An open kitchen with stools for counter dining takes up the centre of the brick-lined room, while there’s also a large outdoor terrace. The extended menu features traditional dishes such as crispy fried plantain, alongside newer takes including soft-shell crab with chilli mayo, and a soft corn pancake topped with 12-hour braised pork leg marinated with jerk mayo, tomato and avocado salsa. The mezzanine level features a private dining area, while the bar turns out a selection of rum-based cocktails. Weekend visitors can also make the most of Arepa & Co brunches, which feature the likes of corn pancakes layered with grilled bacon and cheese, and ‘funche’, a cornmeal base with beef stock, streaky bacon and sugarcane syrup.
