An offshoot of groovy Aquum in Clapham, this good-time venue does the business for Esher’s clubbing crowd with its weird lighting, bold colours and eye-catching design. Powder-puff pinks may remind
you of a beauty salon, although nightfall brings shifting blues, reds and purple illumination to the party as the throngs sip their way through martinis, margaritas, mules, mojitos and various
bubbly mixes. That said, Aquum Lounge is more than just a glamorous, crepuscular coven for cocktails and dancing. Head for the razzle-dazzle restaurant where the cooking adds some Asian and
occidental nuances to a crowd-pleasing menu of burgers, steaks, fishcakes, char-grilled tuna and the like – perhaps lamb samosas with cucumber raita and chilli salsa or duck spring rolls with
hoisin sauce. There’s also an outdoor space for those rare balmy evenings.
