This smart Indian, housed on the upper floor of an ornately decorated former cinema, is a world away from your average curry house. It pays close attention to detail in everything from service to surrounds – think a magnificent gilded, curved ceiling, large murals of Indian fashion and jewellery, crisp linen, sparkling tableware and smiling, traditionally dressed staff. The menu also includes plenty of old favourites – korma, rogan josh, chicken tikka – while at the same time casting the culinary net wider with interesting dishes such as tangy lamb haandi and salmon dil tikka. Well worth a visit.
