“Delicious every time!” is one fan’s verdict on Angie Steele’s “amazing café” – a colourful, eclectic bolthole that does a roaring trade supplying the food for client meetings and team lunches, as well as feeding the Chiswick locals. South African-born Angie spent eight years with Gordon Ramsay – so be prepared for plenty of bright, vibrant flavours. Seasonal ingredients from the capital’s artisan markets are the building blocks for her daily menus, from the “best croque monsieur ever” to a range of zesty global platters – think miso-glazed salmon with pickled cucumber, dill and chilli or roast chicken thighs and legs with chorizo, smoked paprika, black olives and parsley. There’s also a big choice of ‘healthy’ salads, plus ‘sweet treats’ such as Rocky Roads with ‘little meringue kisses’. ALFS (as it’s affectionately known) is also famed for its range of quirky and highly collectable decorative ceramics.
