Angela's Seafood Restaurant is a hip, independent restaurant and rooms in the heart of Margate, serving a menu of locally-sourced seafood hinged on simplicity for lunch and dinner, from Tuesday to Saturday.
The restaurant touts its philosophy as being rooted in sustainability, striving to work with growers and fishermen with the same vision, while actively doing everything it can to remove plastic from its supply chain.
The food selection changes daily, depending on what comes in from the fishing boats, but there is a sample menu online to get a flavour of what's to come. Examples include Dover sole with green sauce; scallops with Jerusalem artichoke; fish soup; and lobster with garlic butter.
The wine list is small but has been carefully curated and is the work of a lot of painstaking, in-person research. While on the road, visiting producers to contribute to the main menu, the team have been keen to discover English vineyards for themselves, coming to the conclusion that English white and sparkling wines provide the perfect accompaniment for their seafood.
There's a good selection offering plenty of choice from Norfolk to Sussex, and for those looking for something European, or perhaps a rose or red wine, there are bottles from further afield, too. Expect blends from France, Spain, Germany and Italy, with a special section carved out exclusively for 'classic seafood wines'.
The restaurant's decor is cool and laid-back, featuring a soft, monochrome colour scheme and lots of natural materials. We particularly like the look of the marble tables, rustic, original flooring and bistro chairs which add a European flair. Overall the vibe is spot-on neighbourhood restaurant - serving up both wow-worthy food in a relaxed setting with a no-frills attitude.
