Amaretto Ristorante was initially launched in Egdware in 2005, under the management of head chef and owner Flo Bajari, who learnt his craft in southern Italy. The restaurant is a local favourite, and Bajari has opened two other restaurants in Hendon and Golders Green, as well as coffee bars in Hendon and Southgate, making Amaretto an important fixture in Italian dining in North London.
Amaretto in Golders Green provides an authentic Italian dining experience, serving an extensive menu of classic Italian dishes. The antipasti offering is vast, including deep-fried mozzarella croquettes with tomato sauce and anchovies, cured beef, rocket and Parmesan, focaccia, calamari, bruschetta and an insalata tricolore to name a few.
For the main course, pasta, pizza, meat and fish are all on offer. The range of veal dishes are a particular highlight, including veal Milanese served with spaghetti Bolognese, and a veal escalope with Parma ham, sage and a white wine sauce. There are also a variety of fish dishes available, including grilled Dover sole, king prawns in tomato, chilli and garlic, and tuna with tomatoes, capers and olives.
All of the classic pasta dishes you would expect are on the menu, including spaghetti alle vongole, melenze alla parmagiana, and linguine all'amatriciana. The pizza offering is equally traditional, including a fiorentina, calzone, americana, and a capricciosa. The team also serves a selection of soups and salads, for if you fancy something a little lighter.
Amaretto's dessert menu is perhaps the highlight of this celebration of Italian cuisine, with traditional Italian desserts and updated takes on classics from around the world. Featuring dishes such as tiramisu, limocello sorbet, crème caramel, profiteroles, a New York cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding, there is something for everyone on the dessert menu.
On the drinks menu, the focus is on Italian red wines, but there are also white wines, Prosecco and Italian liquers, including limocello and the restaurant's namesake amaretto. This is a great restaurant to visit is you're looking for Italian fare from a trusted, favourite venue.
