Following a fire at their original premises on the High Street, the guys from Almost Famous Burgers have moved to a new site – this time within the funky Great Northern Warehouse. Originally a pop-up, this big, brash joint has rebooted, with some new ideas on the food front. Burgers are still the top shout, all slathered in some rather ironically named, chilli-spiked sauces (‘suicide’, ‘red neck’ etc). Check out ‘baddaboom’ (a double cheese whopper with garlic butter brioche, bacon, chorizo, onions, famous sauce, fries, parmesan and chilli) or the triple-peppered ’animal’ version with fried onions in magic mustard mayo, ‘beef monster munch’, chipotle ketchup and jalapeños. Otherwise, go for ‘awesome frickin’ chicken’, ‘hog-hammer’ pulled pork rolls or ‘triple dip money flip’ flat-iron steak sandwiches washed down with craft beers and ‘bitch juice’ cocktails. Order at the bar. No bookings, but ‘smart-casual’ dress after 7pm.

The phoenix double cheeseburger comes with bacon, shoestring onions, frazzles, red chillies, redneck BBQ, bacon bacon mayo and bacon ketchup. The more luxe burgers include the butter blood and bleu, filled with wonderbuttered 4oz steak, chorizo, peppercorn sauce, creamy bleu cheese sauce, wonderdusted waffle fries, wonder onions and delicious magic mayo, and blame it on the whisky, which has a double cheeseburger, wonderdusted waffle fries, chipotle hot honey, BBQ pork, crispy pepperoni, jalapeno and onion, bacon bacon mayo, redneck BBQ, and cholula. On the side choose from a range of dishes, like the mixed skin on and sweet potato fries, hot af chicken wings, and the bacon rain fries.

The mega lunch deal is served between 12 and 5pm, and includes the liberty island, which is stuffed with buttermilk fried chicken, a salad stack, smashed avocado, jalapeno mayo and chipotle mayo.
