Mill Hill finally has a decent gastropub – would you Adam & Eve it? Since this Edwardian boozer was converted, it has been turning suburban heads with its casually chic interiors, leather couches & well-executed menu. Food such as ham-hock terrine, salmon fishcakes with spinach & tartare & a sizeable sirloin steak with chips may not be cutting edge, but it’s good, filling stuff made from premium ingredients. For a snack, a warm Scotch egg or some wild boar salami with a pint of Hobgoblin at the bar is more than satisfactory. There’s a fair choice of global wines too, including some posh Bordeaux & premier crus. The suntrap garden is a summertime hub, while movie nights, quizzes & seasonal celebrations (Burns’ Night, Bastille Day) keep things interesting year-round.
