Aamchi Mumbai is all about delivering exquisite Indian food, along with traditional and freshly cooked Mumbai street food, to the people of Cheadle.
From the streets of Mumbai, dine on soft pillowy steamed lentil rice cake served with lentil sambhar and coconut chutney, or crispy Indian crepes with lightly spiced potatoes, and samosas transformed by a plethora of flavours by the addition of a yoghurt, a variety of chutneys, tit bits and sev. For something really delicious, try Mumbai's own burger, a spicy potato ball deep fried in gram flour batter, sprinkled with special red spice, or the medley of fresh vegetables mashed and blended with spices and butter, served with a toasted bun. Other dishes include the chilli paneer, which is a dish of stir fried cottage cheese cubes, with green capsicum, chillies, onion and garlic, tossed in in Chinese sauces.
For a more traditional meal, rather than ordering a selection of dishes from the Mumbai street food menu, order starters like the chicken tandoori, fish hariyali, or prawn koliwada. The prawn sizzler is a complete meal served on a sizzling platter, with marinated prawns, makhani sauce and masala rice topped with a green pepper stuffed with spiced cottage cheese and potatoes, and the tawa lamb is a dry but intensely flavoured lamb curry cooked in a wok - perfect to smother up into a piece of naan bread.
Of course, there are a selection of biryanis, and vegetarian mains like paneer jalfrezi and malai kofta in a tomato based creamy sauce. Other mains include the chicken saagwala, aamchi Mumbai chicken and Goan fish curry, along with the karara keema and lamb do pyaza, all of which will make a delicious meal.
