This first permanent site for a pop-up and food truck brings a cheap, cheerful and intensely tasty burger offering to Spitalfields Market. Using British beef prepared by Bermondsey’s The Butcher, burgers start at £6 and include bacon, blue cheese and tofu options. The highlight is the Bleecker Black (£10), a double cheeseburger with a disc of black pudding sandwiched within that adds a heavier, saltier edge to plump burger patties which are cooked however you like your meat done. Our cheeseburger was less impressive, being smaller and containing one lettuce leaf, while the ‘Angry Fries’ were coated in blue cheese, hot sauce and way too much salt (the sweet potato fries were much better). Milkshakes are the only dessert choice; elsewhere on the drinks list, there are softies and beers. Sit at the market’s communal benches if you don’t want to take away, although these burgers are too good not to scoff immediately.
