Nestled on the banks of the River Camel, Wadebridge is a lively market town in the north of Cornwall. It’s conveniently located halfway between Bodmin, one of Cornwall’s oldest towns, and Padstow, a popular fishing town known for its stunning beaches and array of top-notch restaurants.
Everyone from bike riders to restaurant-goers can unite! Spend the day trundling along the Camel Trail, an old railway-turned-cycle-path which runs between Padstow and Wenfordbridge, before stopping off in Wadebridge en route for a delicious lunch. You can take a look at the town’s old bridge, which is apparently built on bales of wool. Although it’s probably nothing more than a nod to the money the town made off the back of the wool industry, it makes for a good tale nonetheless. If that doesn’t interest you, you could also pay a visit to the monolith at St Breock Downs, taking in the phenomenal views across the moor.
