The Victoria has humble beginnings, having started when Lockdown just began, and the team had to work in an unprecedented fashion. The Vic, as it is known to locals, became home to Matt and his team who quickly set up work with local seafood suppliers who sourced ingredients from the British coast, and served locals during lockdown. Then came the restaurant renovation that made sure the space reflected a seaside haven with a relaxed feel.
There are so many amazing things about The Vic, from the Victorian tiles that they have applied to the fascia of the pub, their Kamado charcoal smoker, native sourced fish, charming garden and last but not least, the luxurious dining space.
The first floor of The Victoria has been lovingly restored to include a private dining space with its own bar. The room is filled with bright colours, luxury, special touches and comfy furnishings. The dining room can accommodate up to 20 people for dining, and 30 for a reception style booking. The open plan reception cocktail bar is included in your booking and serves your guests well with pre and post dinner drinks. You'll also be provided with a dedicated server to look after you for your whole event, and can order from tasting, banquet or regular menus. Something you won’t find on The Victoria’s menu? Salmon. The restaurant believes that the fish is overfarmed, and so instead they serve chalk stream trout.
If you want an outdoor space, you can look at the garden. The sun trap with individually heated booths and dining shelter can accommodate groups of over 25 guests, and serves al fresco menu options – a great choice to enjoy delicious seafood.
