Located in a stunning old Victorian power station in Shoreditch, The Light Bar is a restaurant, bar and venue split across three spectacular floors. It uses South East Asian-inspired food using seasonal produce wherever possible, along with a dedicated drinks list, and aims to bring a fun, generous-spirited vibe while upholding its sustainable principles. The Light Bar offers private hire options across all three floors, and is well suited to larger private dinners and celebrations.
The top floor restaurant and bar – The Timber Loft – is a dedicated private hire space able to hold up to 65 people seated for dinner, or up to 130 standing. This light and airy room boasts contemporary design, while still retaining many of the building's original features, such as its eponymous timber ceiling and beams, and red brick walls. This room also includes its own private bar should you like to host a drinks reception here before your special dinner.
The Copper Bar on the Mezzanine level, overlooking the main Engine Hall, includes your own private cocktail bar, whilst retaining all the atmosphere from below. If you’d like to hire an alfresco space during the summer months, then the Back Yard is just the thing. This cosy enclosed terrace boasts a retractable roof for warm sunny days, and heaters for the cooler months. Comfortably furnished with sofas and soft seating, the space accommodates up to 100 standing and is one of East London's best kept secrets, offering an escape from the noise of Shoreditch High Street. Full venue hire is also available on a case by case basis.
While menus can be created to suit your event, there are a selection of set offerings to suit various needs and styles. Choose between the feasting menu, a multi-course option, or more casual canapes and bowl food. Examples of dishes include spiced cured trout with shiso; grilled pork chops with hispi, fermented chilli and herb butter; and smoked aubergine with sticky miso and tomato glaze.
