A historic pub dating back to the 1500s, private dining at The Bull combines traditional charm, modern sophistication and a first-rate gastropub menu. It comes to us from the team behind The Pelican in London, now sharing their winning recipe in the Cotswolds. In a nutshell, it’s relaxed, intimate and incredibly good - making it an ideal venue for intimate gatherings, special celebrations, and corporate dinners.
There are various spaces to choose from, including a semi-private 12-seater space with exposed Cotswold stone walls, and dark wood cabinets stacked with wines. Elsewhere, The Secret Garden Room forms an intimate and elegant setting for gatherings of up to 30 guests. Alternatively, if your private dining event at The Bull is likely to be more lively, group dinners of up to 19 can hire out the full restaurant for set menus or canape receptions. Though menus change frequently, with a strong commitment to seasonality, dishes appear depending on the freshest high-quality ingredients available.
Cooking is traditional, but inventive, offering classic dishes with mountains of flavour. Think seasonal tarts, pies, and prime cuts. The Bull menu for private dining begins with a chef’s selection, with starters ranging from ox tongue and fish stew to mussels with wild garlic and beetroot with curds. Elsewhere, you’ll find market fish, rosemary potatoes, and farm vegetable plates while the desserts section offers up a seriously good meringue. For mixers and receptions, canapes have included ham hock with Lincolnshire poacher cheese, rarebit, short rib, and honey mustard chipolatas.
Of course, any great gastropub will need a brilliant store of wines, plus some local and craft beers. So alongside Lucky Saint and Guinness, you’ll find Lost & Grounded brews along with a Gravity Theory Cider made from 100% British apples. You can also turn private dining into an overnight stay, with king-sized beds and clay pigeon shooting.
