Seafood maestros
Wright Brothers has opened its fifth restaurant in the shiny new Battersea Power Station. This time round there’s a chic private dining space for 24 guests named The Coal Room, which comes with audio-visual equipment too.
It’s the first in the group to have a Josper charcoal oven – a trendy piece of equipment that makes use of high temperatures to enhance ingredient flavours. Of the set (£40pp) and sharing menus (£50pp), we prefer the latter which starts with a full platter of oysters, mussels, whelks, prawns, razor clams and dressed crab. This is seafood at its finest, but there are meat options on the menu for those that prefer a steak.
What’s really caught our interest though is that bookers can add on a mini-oyster masterclass to educate their table on the different types and how best to open them. Each class is slightly different, as the chefs share their love for these tiny molluscs. Aw, shucks!
Plan a lot of private dinners? We’ve rounded up the best to open this winter season
