Named eponymously after the physician, naturalist and collector Hans Sloane, the Bar & Grill serves an all-day seasonal menu of British produce, with an inventive selection of cocktails. With eminent designers Goddard Littlefair at the helm, the interiors of the plush new Hans’ Bar & Grill are pretty, sophisticated and on-trend. There are thoughtful modern touches, such as the pea-green chairs, shrubs hanging from the ceiling and the skylight that floods the space with natural light.
Head chef Adam England can create bespoke menus for 14 in the bright and airy private dining room, which also has room for 25 standing for a drinks reception, and the luxurious space also benefits from its own private entrance and dedicated break-out area.
We tried the tuna tartar to start, which was refreshing and the duck that followed was tender and flavoursome – although a touch overdone. Our favourite dish was an unusual pineapple carpaccio for dessert, served with a mellow coconut ice cream. We would also recommend the oyster and Bloody Mary shots for added flair, but be warned: they’re sizeable, so eat carefully to avoid unfortunate tomato juice stains.
Hans' benefits from an impressive wine collection and its Wine Room accepts bookings for tasting sessions as a pre-dinner teambuilding session or client treat.
Only a month old, the restaurant is overcoming some teething problems – the service needed some refining - but overall the vibe was friendly and professional.
