Brigadiers is the latest restaurant to open in Bloomberg Arcade and the hype is high. Why? It’s from the team behind Michelin-star Indian
Gymkhana for a start.
Maybe the fact that the kitchen will use charcoal grills, tandoors, rotisseries, Indian smokers and wood ovens to cook its food has something to do with it, too. The feasting menu – whole suckling lamb biryani, anyone? – shows they’re taking group dining seriously too.
In fact, that appears to be something of a priority, for within this 140-cover eatery (plus 34-seat terrace) there’ll be no less than eight spaces ready to host events.
Let’s start off with the fun stuff. Besides the obvious, the 25-capacity Pool Room will have a whisky vending machine, fast-pour self-serve beer and cocktail taps and two huge TVs. World Cup screenings all the way, right?
Elsewhere, there’ll be three purpose-built private dining rooms, all channelling an Indian art deco (yes, that’s a thing) design. Our favourite of the three is the 16-seat Pot Luck Room, which has a large sharing table on top of a stone floor. There’s another one of those beers stations in there too. The other two, Kukri and Bidi, seat 8 and 14 respectively.
Otherwise, we’d suggest checking out the 15-capacity (standing) Tap Room, described as a ‘reimagined tavern’. It focuses on a changing menu of beers, served in schooners (2/3 pints), so you can sample more of what’s on offer.
In short, you need to check this place out. Group bookings are being taken now for when the venue opens in early June.
