The new landmark hotel nailed its own opening earlier this year, and has now launched a restaurant that’s Chinese and Japanese.
The name Mei Ume comes from the term for plum blossom in China and Japan respectively, and inside the interiors and cuisine are a fusion of the two cultures. Behind an embroidered silk lace panel in the 48-cover main room, you’ll find an intimate private dining room that can seat up to 14.
Groups choose between three menus, priced from £50 to £90 a head. Each starts with sweet edamame sprinkled with salt flakes, and a selection of sashimi, nigiri and maki.
The whole crispy Peking duck with pancakes, leeks and cucumber is set to be a real showstopper.
