Pomona's offers something different, by styling its menus around the inspirational concept of Californian living. While it typically eschews a 'best of British' theme, the restaurant has made an exception this summer by launching a British-themed outdoor pop-up.
Celebrating the launch of its sizeable sun-trap terrace – which is bookable for private parties of 37 seated guests – Pomona's has unveiled a 'gin and oysters' concept as a playful British adaptation of the classic Italian aperitivo hour. Now that’s a fun summer party.
The oysters sold are sustainably sourced from Goldhanger Creek and River Blackwater in Essex, and are designed to be paired with a diverse range of gin cocktails. Some celebrate the classics, while others step boldly into new territory (we're looking at you, gin with elderflower tonic, strawberry and black pepper).
For something heartier, the restaurant offers a range of healthy and seasonal dishes, with highlights including a dairy-free monkfish curry, alongside heavier wood and charcoal options. Think Iberico pork pluma, braised fennel and salsa verde, and the Welsh lamb rump. However, the star attraction is the brightly coloured decking, boldly accented in lemon yellow and baby blue with trails of flora and fauna – Instagram heaven.
