You may know Lancashire as the home of Blackpool, and its world famous Pleasure Beach. But Lancashire has much more to its name than rides, arcades and ice cream. At one point in time, Lancashire had a very busy job at providing over half the world’s cotton production, as the first place where the spinning and weaving of cotton began. The county is home to Lancaster Castle, and has plenty of history found throughout its streets. If you like to enjoy local delicacies when you pay somewhere a visit, be sure to try the Lancashire Hot Pot, Trolley Cake and Butter Pie. For children, there are plenty of things to do. You’ve got the Blackpool Tower, Blackpool Zoo, Sea Life, Madame Tussauds and Sandcastle Water Park.
