Falmouth, named after its location on the mouth of the River Fal, is a town on the south coast of Cornwall. The town is world renowned for its harbour, which is the third deepest natural harbour in the world, as well as being at the heart of Cornish wrestling - or ‘wrasslin’ as it’s known by locals.
It is also home to Falmouth University, as well as the University of Exeter’s Penryn campus, so you’ll often find hordes of students around town. For a slightly more active day out, you can take a trip down one of its cycling and walking routes, while in the summer, tourists flock towards the town for its proximity to many of the best beaches around, including Gyllyngvase ‘Gylly’, Swanpool and Maenporth Beach. On that note, diving is a popular pastime in Falmouth, with a wealth of excellent dive sites and facilities making it ideal for experienced and inexperienced divers alike.
