One of the best things about the Coal Drops Yard complex is its spotlight on a once forgetten area's unique features. At Barrafina's King's Cross outpost, you're reminded of many of them, with its restaurant housed in a gorgeous, warehouse-style building all exposed brick and huge windows. And, don't get us started on those views over Regent's Canal, one of North London's quirkiest spots.
So, if you've got a special occasion coming up or perhaps a corporate function where you'd like to impress, check out the private dining room at Barrafina Coal Drops Yard which has to be one of the most impressive exclusive-use spaces in this part of the city.
For a seated dinner, between eight and 22 guests can happily fit around the central dining table, but if your bash is a standing soiree, this number increases to 30. Above the table hangs an industrial-style lighting installation, while large, colourful art piece takes centre stage on the wall. Stylish, sophisticated and full of character, it's a great place for any kind of event.
Group diners are asked to choose from a feasting menu which is shared between the table. There are plenty of options, some focusing on one main ingredient like chicken or pork, while the signature offers a good over arching selection. There's also a delicious-sounding vegetarian and vegan choice so don't worry if members of your group are plant-based.
The pork-focused menu, for example, begins with a mix of starters to share including ham croquetas, paletilla Ibérica and pan con tomate, followed by a main of slow- cooked pork belly with mojo verde, served with confit potatoes with onion and herbs, plus sauteed seasonal greens. Desserts look like tarta de queso with crème fraiche ice cream, and you're welcome to choose a Spanish cheese course, too.
