Australian restaurant group Daisy Green Collection has opened a restaurant and bar in two barges on Paddington’s Grand Union Canal, with bright and bold exteriors designed by pop artist Sir Peter Blake.
Both 25m boats can be booked for exclusive hire: the restaurant one, Darcie Green, seats 34 and the bar one, May Green, seats 20. Standing numbers are 50 and 45 respectively, and they both have a top deck for alfresco tipples come summer party season.
The food is antipodean-inspired (that’s Australia and New Zealand to you and me), meaning lots of Asian ingredients thrown in. We love the sound of a buttermilk fried chicken bun with sriacha and lime mayo, as well a spicy tuna tostada. The vegan offering is strong too – think trendy jackfruit curry and a celeriac steak.
Prices for exclusive use start from £1,000 per boat, and set menus for smaller groups start from £34pp.
