The Pilgrims' Hall is the oldest building in the Great Courtyard at The Friars, and has a history that dates back to the 13th century. While the building does have more modern Elizabethan details, such as 17th century windows and a 1950s kitchen, the Pilgrims' Hall itself is a genuine 13th century structure that originally provided shelter for pilgrims who were travelling to Canterbury.

Hospitality has always been a key part of Carmelite culture and remains important today, something which you’ll recognise as soon as you enter Pilgrims Hall. Over the years, the Pilgrims Hall has served various purposes, including being a barn, a brewery, a house, and even the headquarters for a Scouts group, before becoming the venue it is now.

You may be planning a baby shower, a family lunch or a corporate event, and whatever it is, the team at The Friars will work with you to make sure that your event is nothing short of perfect. With a whole host of offers, here you're guaranteed a breathtaking backdrop for your event, only enhanced by the beautiful surroundings.

The North Barn at The Friars is a delightful an totally unique venue, set in 40 acres of beautiful surroundings- the perfect setting for any event with a difference. We offer a personalised service to the highest standards. We hire the North Barn for parties, weddings, funerals, exhibitions and conferences. Main Conference Centre

Main Conference Centre

ocated in the conference courtyard, this ground floor room is fully accessible. The Conference Centre has a small welcome lobby, two sets of toilets, a bar/lounge area and two separate syndicate rooms. The main room can accommodate up to 120 delegates whilst the syndicate rooms take 15 – 25 delegates. There is a small stage at the front of the room, and lots of opening windows, it is fully carpeted and has access to the beautiful grounds. The main room measures 6.67m x 14.35m, the bar area can be used for working lunches or as an additional breakout area.

St Simon Stock

St Simon Stock

The next largest of the conference rooms, St Simon Stock can accommodate 80 delegates theatre style. This room has a veranda, access to the lawn, and main car park is easy. St Simon Stock also has a small kitchen area. There are two connecting doors to Patrick Geary if additional space is required. Dimensions 15.94m x 6.64m

St Therese

St Therese can accommodate 60 delegates theatre style, and has the benefit of round tables. The floor is completely tiled so the room is suitable for all sorts of activities including arts and crafts. Dimensions 15.45m x 6.67m

Patrick Geary

Patrick Geary

Is adjacent to St Simon Stock and can be used separately or in conjunction with St Simon Stock. Capable of accommodating forty delegates, theatre style. Another room where the floor is fully tiled, there is direct access to the lawn and a veranda runs the length of the two rooms, so fresh air is possible, even on rainy days. Dimensions 12.19m x 6.70m

St Albert

St Albert’s is connected to St Therese and can be used separately or in conjunction with St Therese. This room opens out into the courtyard and is well severed by a number of public toilets in close proximity. Dimensions 6.67m x 6.12m

Walden

The smallest of all the conference rooms, this room is fully carpeted with lounge style seating. Suitable for a less formal event or as an additional breakout area when using St Albert’s or the main conference centre. Access is from the conference courtyard. Dimensions 6.91m x 4.51m

Kilian Lynch Is slightly removed from the main conference area, located at the far end of the car park. Able to accommodate up to 20 delegates in a variety of layouts it has the benefit of easy chairs as well as conference furniture. Dimensions 8.38m x 6.18m
