On London's iconic The Strand, you'll find The Courtauld Gallery - a world-famous collection of artworks from the likes of Van Gogh and Cézanne, hidden from the hustle and bustle within Somerset House's beautiful courtyard.
And, quite wonderfully for those planning a special event, this prestigious setting is available to hire for private dining and cocktail receptions, offering a truly unique backdrop for your occasion. Inside, there are two floors which can be taken over, starting with the beautifully restored Blavatnik Fine Rooms on the second floor. Here, the long, elegant spaces are atmospherically lit and filled with some of the most well-known works from the Renaissance period including Botticelli’s The Trinity With Saints. With a capacity of 250 for a standing reception and 60 for a seated dinner, it's a gorgeous place to host both corporate and private events.
On the third floor, the LVMH Great Room is London’s oldest purpose-built exhibition space and where you'll find one of Van Gogh's most famous works, Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear. Here, receptions of 150 are welcomed, with the capacity to host seated meals upon request. While dinners are possible, availability is very limited, so you'll have to discuss with the in-house events team. The LVMH Great Room is also located next to The Courtauld's special exhibition space, should you wish to hold a reception with a private view of a major exhibition.
If you're on the hunt for a more relaxed setting for your event, then the Art Cafe is just the thing. This stylish restaurant and bar is able to host standing events of 100, or seated affairs for 50. Inside, you'll find warm and striking interiors with plenty of colourful touches, which are sure to inject your event with a cool and friendly vibe. Catering here is provided in house by Company of Cooks, who offer an ever-changing seasonal menu of nibbles, canapes and drinks.
