We know how hard it can be to find just the right venue in London for an event, big or small. But, The Coal Shed, which comes from the much-hyped hospitality group Black Rock, is a modern British restaurant in the heart of London Bridge that ticks all of the boxes.
The Coal Shed has an industrial-chic aesthetic with wood cladded ceilings, metal-framed furnishings and darker colour scheme. Statement ceiling lights and an abundance of lamps pack the place with atmosphere, making it a great spot for big groups to socialise.
The restaurant sits across two floors, with three different spaces available to hire. For those looking to throw the party of the year, it has to be the entire place, with the main restaurant boasting a capacity of 100 people seated or 150 standing. If this is a little large for what you had in mind, the mezzanine offers a mix of spaces and floor plans, with room for between 40 and 55 people, depending on whether they're seated or standing.
While, the private dining room is perfect for an intimate dinner or meeting, with enough space for between 14 to 20 people. Here, you'll also find a luxurious TV and tech equipment set up, in case holding a meeting or creative session.
In terms of the food, the restaurant gets its name from its signature cooking method - grilling over hot coals. The menu focuses on modern British cuisine, especially uplifting local suppliers and seasonal produce. There is a group menu which makes ordering so much easier and while you should check ahead with the team, sample dishes include starters like citrus cured Loch Duart Salmon, followed by mains such as Herdwick lamb rump and strawberry and mint with Champagne Sabayon and yoghurt sorbet.
