L'oscar is an outrageously decadent hotel and restaurant snuggled in the heart of Covent L'oscar is an outrageously decadent hotel and restaurant snuggled in the heart of Covent Garden, within a Baroque-style, Grade II listed former church. In truth, a written description will always fall short of the flamboyant interiors, dreamed up by Jacques Garcia, which feature gold-gilded walls, rich, velvet seating and an illuminated onyx ceiling.
While the venue boasts a stunning central restaurant, if you're looking for somewhere special to host a private event, L'oscar has two exclusive-use event spaces which can be yours for the day or night. Whether it be for a birthday party or corporate dinner, L'oscar is well-equipped to deal with any kind of event, with a dedicated team who will help you plan your occasion, and ensure everything is alright on the night.
The Committee Room is a large space with a high, vaulted ceiling painted in a rich, peacock blue. Across the walls, you'll see intricate hand-painted depictions of these exquisite birds, which gives the whole room a fantastical feel. The wooden wall panelling is a stunning example of the Arts and Crafts movement, but your eye will also be caught by the ornate, carved fireplace. To top it all off, velvet, gathered blinds hang at the windows, and bespoke furniture adorns the central table. This space can host 26 people for dinner, or up to 40 for a cocktail reception, making it an incredible place for drinks and socialising, or a full sit-down dinner.
The Library Room follows a similar theme, again using a jewel-toned colour scheme and highlighting masterful examples of 19th century architecture. Here, the space is a little wider and more open, and the floor is dotted with sumptuous cocktail chairs, flanked with cabinets of curiosities and walls of books. Guests are invited to host 40 people for lunch or dinner, and up to 80 for just drinks.
