Located on the outskirts of Chelmsford, Hylands Estate offers a grande and unique spot for your upcoming event in this Grade-II listed public park.
The Hylands Estate comprises the park, house and stabling, and has been an integral part of Chelmsford's events scene, and a place of beauty, for centuries. Hylands was built in 1730 for Sir John Comyns, and whilst the original house was a red brick Queen Anne style mansion, it was in this very spot, one that was chosen for its beauty. The venue has undergone numerous ownerships and architectural changes, and became its largest in the Victorian era during John Atwood’s ownership where the Estate stood at 4,300 acres. Now at approximately 574 acres Hylands Estate is primarily used as a venue space, because of its beauty and versatility.
With the estate and house fully restored and refurbished, Hylands is very much a beautiful event space choice for anything that you're planning. It's a space that has all the modern necessities that you'll be thinking of, but it also comes with plenty of history. There are a lot of events that are held here by Chelmsford City Council, too, but the venue is keen to build memories for the future and so, the team will work with you to craft your dream event – whether that’s a marquee decorated to match Alice in Wonderland, a grand wedding inside the house, or a gathering of Scouts from across the world.
It’s not just the fun and fancy events you can hold at the Hylands Estate, the venue does accommodate business and meeting events, whether you want something smaller or larger. The space is surrounded by 574 acres of peaceful parkland, making it an incredibly relaxing space to hold even the busiest or most stressful of conferences or events.
