Christmas is a time for tradition, and where encapsulates a history of seasonal merriment more than a classic London boozer? Now, when it comes to The Garrison, this description may not be entirely true. While it is a long-time and much loved local, nodding to its charming past with bottle-green exterior tiling and well-worn wooden floors, it's anything but typical.
A Bermondsey institution for 20 years, The Garrison's team is passionate about serving up fresh, delicious and locally sourced food, often working with suppliers in the neighbourhood. Its brilliant ability to host is one of the things that makes it so special, and so if you're looking for a cool but homely spot to bring your friends or colleagues for a Christmas do, the team are more than happy to oblige.
Speak to the team about possibilities of booking a larger table or renting out the entire space and they'll be able to chat through all of your options, as well as covering off festive dishes. While seasonal menus aren't currently available, a gander at The Garrison's Instagram beautifully illustrates the chef's attitude to food with daily catches like seabass delivered from Perranporth the night before, cooked over coals with confit garlic oil, or mackerel tartar from Brixham with wild strawberries, burnt apple and tobiko eggs. We particularly like the sound of the Cornish Black Chicken with broccoli puree, 36 month aged parmesan and morel sauce, as well as the bacon chop with braised shoulder, cannellini beans and crispy pigs ears - but beware, the menu changes regularly!
The Garrison also takes pride in its selection of drinks with an expertly picked list of natural wines and house signature cocktails like the Garrison Spritz or the Goodness Gracious with Cocchi Americano, green tea and citrus.
