It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and so what does that mean? Christmas parties, of course. Each year can see the return of the same old drab and repetitive corporate buffets, lukewarm turkey and table crackers that don’t snap, but sometimes, the occasion calls for a little more luxury.
Muse by Tom Aikens is an experience-led fine dining establishment in Belgravia, with regular seating for 23, but event space for up to 26, making it the perfect spot for an intimate Christmas party. The restaurant is housed in the most gorgeously converted mews property, and upon opening was swift to receive a Michelin star. The tasting menus change depending on the seasons, and are driven by fine local and sustainable produce. You’ll be in safe hands with Tom and his team, as his love of food stretches right back to his early childhood – with lingering memories of picking fruit for chutney and jam with his Mum and twin brother in the family garden.
Snacks are served first, which reminisce on Tom's time in the garden with his mother, when he would pick anything that was edible. Bread is next, and you'll enjoy it freshly prepared with Tom's special chicken and cep butter. A dish named full of beans contains peach and almond, and a seasonal selection of beans. Tom loves the strong and flavoursome nature of lobster, and pairs it with tomato and gooseberry. With fond memories of freshly dug potatoes, Tom pairs Jersey royals with broccoli and camelina, and incorporates what would be food waste, into a dish of apple, turbot and kohlrabi.
You won’t want to miss dessert, which is always a sweet, seasonal delight, so make sure to save room.
