If the view of the City skyline across the Thames on a winter’s night doesn’t warm your festive cockles, you might need to reach for the anti-freeze. With a riverside location in the shadow of Tower Bridge, it’s no wonder that Butlers Wharf Chop House is such a popular choice for Christmas entertaining.
Designed to echo a traditional British chophouse, Butler’s Wharf serves really good, simple British food within a spacious restaurant, reminiscent of a boating shed or cricket pavilion. The restaurant offers four main areas suited to a range of group sizes and allows for semi-private dining while still soaking up the buzz of the main restaurant. If you would like to hire the whole space, you can do so for up to 60 guests, while semi-private tables are available for groups of 14 around one long table.
Butler’s Wharf is available for exclusive hire, too. The restaurant and bar can be hired for large Christmas parties, including receptions, sit-down dinners or a more casual affair with buffet stations. The bar can be hired separately if liked, which comes with its own outdoor area for those looking to take a breather from the festivities and enjoy those stunning waterside views. The whole venue can hold 300 people for a standing event, or 140 people seated, while the bar is able to accommodate 45 people seated or 100 standing.
A thoroughly British menu matches the interiors – decked out in the style of a classic English boating house – and the wine list, which features English whites and sparklers. Expect to see hearty dishes such as chargrilled steaks from the robata grill, burgers, pies as well as a hefty list of sauces and sides.
