The Inn on the Lake is a hotel and wedding venue in Glenridding, a village at the southern end of Ullswater in the Lake District, most famous for its Ullswater Steamers, a fleet of pleasurecraft that provide tours of the lake. The hotel’s shoreside setting means it offers breathtaking, uninterrupted views of both Ullswater and its surrounding heath-filled, typically Lake District mountains.
All this makes for the ideal backdrop for the big day. The 15 acres of landscaped grounds will not only impress guests but offer some memorable and unique photo opportunities, not least from the end of the pier, the expanse of the lake stretching out behind the happy couple as they take their first married photographs.
All weddings are planned alongside a member of the hotel’s dedicated team, who use their combined decades of experience to ensure every wedding plays out seamlessly and to the couple’s exact requirements. Ceremonies can take place in one of the three rooms. The Lakeside Gazebo is outdoors and offers superb views of the hotel’s 15 acres of landscaped gardens, ideal for warmer, sunnier days. There’s also the Glenridding suite, which offers direct access to the terrace, and the Lake View Restaurant, a picturesque dining room that overlooks the lake. These can be adapted to suit wedding parties of all sizes, ranging from just a handful of closed loved ones to 100 guests.
The Lake View and Glenridding, along with the Candleroom, can also host the wedding breakfast. The menus for these prioritise local Cumbrian ingredients and dishes wherever possible, ensuring the food is in keeping with its surroundings, and take one of four forms: Cumbrian, Yan, Tyan or Tethera. These vary depending on the types and number of dishes on offer, ranging from soup followed by chicken breast and then sticky toffee pudding on the Cumbrian menu, up to king prawn tian, rack of Herdwick lamb, and yoghurt parfait on the Tethera.
