Perched on top of Rodborough Common, with endless views over the surrounding Cotswold countryside, you’ll find The Bear of Rodborough Hotel. Full of charming quirks, The Bear boasts a setting to remember for your special day, whether you’re planning something small and intimate or a traditional big white wedding!
Built in the 17th century as a coaching inn, it retains many characterful original features, such as the stone archways and log fires. Its location on top of Rodborough Common means it offers uninterrupted views of the surrounding Cotswold countryside. The hotel also shares the common with a herd of free roaming Belted Galloway cows, who are often found peering in through the ground floor windows.
The Bear of Rodborough is licensed to conduct civil ceremonies. These primarily take place in the Library Restaurant. Able to seat up to 90 guests, this has striking book-end wallpaper and stylish Italian carpet. Another much-loved feature is the log archway, a brilliant reminder of The Bear’s storied history. The large windows at the bottom of the room provide the ideal backdrop to the ceremony, offering great views over the surrounding countryside. The Terrace Room seats 70 guests, meaning it works well for smaller ceremonies. It opens out onto the hotel’s sizable terrace, ideal for taking in the summer sun. This is exclusively hired to weddings and typically used to host post-ceremony drinks and canapes. The Tower Room is the perfect place for an even more intimate reception, seating just 26 guests.
Guests can then stay over in one of the 44 bedrooms. These reflect the hotel’s rural location and no two rooms are the same. Breakfast is included for all staying guests. The wedding breakfast can take several forms depending on the couple’s preferences. A traditional three course sit down affair is on offer but this can easily be substituted for a buffet.
