This 18-hole golf course near the Berkshire town of Wokingham creates an impressive first impression with a driveway winding through the wooded grounds of the course. The clubhouse itself is just as good looking, with its neo-Georgian styling that looks more like a spacious private house, complete with a large south-facing patio that’s the perfect suntrap for a drinks reception and photo opportunity.
Inside, the first-floor function room has its own private bar and a balcony with sweeping views of the fairways. It can cater for up to 100 guests for a formal sit-down meal or 150 for a standing reception but the space can also be tailored for smaller parties.
The food offering is just as flexible and provides couples with the option of giving their wedding guests anything from a three-course meal to a barbecue spit-roast, carvery or buffet. The golf club’s chef is happy to develop a bespoke menu according to a couple’s own personal tastes.
There’s also a dedicated events manager to help you every step of the way, from planning flowers and cakes to entertainment and accommodation. With complete packages starting from £65 per person, you can leave as much or as little to the venue as you wish, whether you want a unique and bespoke package or to have all of the planning done for you.
Sands Martin Golf Course is three miles south of Wokingham town centre and a short taxi journey from both Wokingham and Crowthorne railway stations. The M4 and Reading are also both an easy drive away and there is ample parking for both you and your guest on site at the clubhouse.
Although there is no accommodation on site, there’s a good range of places to stay in and around Wokingham, from budget chains to grander options, while some of the most famous hotels in the country are on the doorstep in the Thames Valley.
