About Runa Farm

Rustic luxury is the name of the game at Runa Farm, a stunning wedding venue in the small town of Bernard Castle, not too far from Darlington. Perfect for couples looking to tie the knot at a beautiful boho venue, Runa Farm offers its own unique spirit that’s simultaneously natural, chic and luxurious.

This gorgeous wedding venue is able to accommodate both the reception and the ceremony under one roof. Say ‘I do’ in the Runa Farm Chapel, an atmospheric space with a tented ceiling, polished stone walls and shimmering lanterns. What's more, the bride makes her entrance via a spiral staircase which leads directly to the aisle, for ultimate impact.

Afterwards, eat, drink and dance in the Old Barn, a timber and stone building flanked on two sides by private terraces. Indeed, if you’ve always dreamed of including an alfresco element at your wedding, then this is the perfect place for you. Enjoy welcome drinks in the meadow before the ceremony begins, or tuck into pizza slices in the kitchen garden when guests start to get peckish in the evening. If you’d like to say ‘I do’ outside, you can do that too! Ceremonies can be hosted outdoors against a backdrop of a wild meadow.

The food at Runa Farm is all cooked by a team of in-house chefs, who use the best local produce from in and around county Durham. This could range from anything from a traditional sit-down meal to something a little more unorthodox, like a seafood extravaganza with fresh fish and seafood served on magnificent tiers, or a Spanish feast featuring a wealth of tapas dishes. Drinks are just as important, with cocktails on tap, cask ales and fine wines all on the menu.

The Runa Farm Chapel is the hidden gem of the farm – entirely unique and unlike any other north east wedding ceremony venue – with its ornate tented ceiling, smooth polished stone walls and shimmering lanterns delivering an ethereal and romantic experience. For the ultimate dress reveal, brides access the Chapel through a secret entrance making their way down the statement wow-worthy staircase, leading directly to the wedding aisle.

We fell in love with Runa Farm the first time we saw it. Aesthetically it was our dream venue but what made the whole day and the experience leading up to it was the exceptional service we received from EVERY individual at every level. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was executed perfectly. The food was amazing which is no easy feat when catering for 120 people, but every dish was delicious and executed to the same if not higher standard than we experienced at our tasting. Could not recommend more highly!

We fell in love with this venue from first seeing it and we are so happy we celebrated our day here. From the get go the staff were super friendly and helpful, it wasn't about them or the money, it was about us and our day! Which when looking at other venues we often felt like it wasn't our wedding. We felt so welcomed at Runa and no question was too silly. It was so private, from arriving at the Farmhouse the day before to saying goodnight to our guests, we did not come across any other guests that were staying at the venue or visiting the Smithy. Nothing was ever an issue and we would massively like to thank all staff but special thanks to Rob the Master of Ceremonies and Eva, her insight into weddings at Runa was so helpful on making food, drink & entertainment choices. You made it so special for us and we felt we could come to you for anything no matter how big or small. If you are considering booking this venue, do it! You'll have the most relaxed and magical day!

Most magical venue ever!!!DECEMBER, 2022

We took a gamble on Runa as it was still in the making when we booked our wedding.. And we were not disappointed one bit!!The staff, the venue and the location are all amazing!!Situated near Barnard Castle, plenty of accommodation nearby. However, the rooms at Runa are unreal! With scenic views and landscapes, even ponies! The venue itself was breathtaking. From the chapel with it's grand staircase, to the reception room with the overview balcony. All of our guests could not believe how magical the venue was and all said they would definitely return for a weekend away. Cannot fault this beautiful venue! It went beyond our dreams!!
