The Ripley Arts Centre house was initially built in 1899 for Robert Whyte Junior and his wife Margaret, along with their four musically gifted daughters – Marjorie, Dorothy, Jessie and Joyce. Then, The Whyte Quartet was formed, and the group continued to entertain the world along with troops during both world wars. When the house became vacant in 1968 after the death of Dorothy, the family were approached by the Bromley Arts Council who purchased the property as an arts centre. In the present day, along with being the home to a calendar of events, including plenty of concerts, the Ripley Arts Centre hosts plenty of events such as conferences, room hire for parties, and of course, why you’re here, weddings.
As a charming Victorian property the Ripley Arts Centre is a beautiful choice for your wedding. Inside, there are plenty of Georgian features that enhance the decor, whilst the splendid gardens compliment the house wonderfully. If you're looking for somewhere that feels totally romantic, this could be the spot for you. As the team knows music better than most, they will be delighted to provide you with a choice of musicians or vocalists who can enhance your wedding day with their talents.
The stunning music room is where your wedding or civil partnership ceremony will take place. This space is designed in classical Georgian style and modelled on a similar room in Hampton Court Palace. There is also a superb Blüthner grand piano, which is available for professional use and is included in the cost of the wedding or civil partnership package. Ripley Arts Centre can accommodate up to 76 guests for the ceremony itself, and only one wedding or civil partnership will take place at any one time, so you have total use.
