This stunning townhouse wedding venue sits right in the heart of Lewes, a charming, historic town in East Sussex. Pelham House has plenty of history of its own too - this venue dates back to the 16th-century and after a major renovation it retains all the grandeur of its former life. Much of the period detailing in the house remains, including wood panelling throughout, grand pillars and hand-painted ceiling murals. With magnificent sprawling suites, a choice of locations for your ceremony and extensive manicured grounds, Pelham House is the perfect location for your special day.
When it comes to the ceremony, the light, bright and spacious Goring Room is an elegant and popular choice. It has capacity for up to 150 guests, and makes for a fantastic blank canvas space that you can make your own with fresh-cut flowers and personal decorations, whilst original bay windows help to fill the space with natural light.
Or, why not take your wedding into the great outdoors? Pelham House’s picture perfect lawns are ideal for an al fresco ceremony, and you can say your vows under The Gazebo, surrounded by towering trees and bright blue sky.
As you move from ceremony to celebration, head to the marble-pillared Blencowe Room, which can host up to 150 for a banquet, or 200 for a standing reception. High ceilings and period details give this room a real sense of grandeur, but there’s still plenty of space for you to style it as you wish, as well as feature lighting. Or, head across the hall into the Garden Room and Terrace to enjoy a drink and a sunset.
Meanwhile, Pelham House handles every aspect of the food and drink too, from welcome canapes and sparkling cocktails to a three course wedding meal and wood-fired pizzas in the evening. Throughout the process, the team is on hand to help tailor your menus to fit your vision. Once the day comes to a close, Pelham House has room for up to 56 guests to stay overnight, as well as a romantic honeymoon suite for the newlyweds.
