Coombe Lodge is a hotel and events and wedding venue in Blagdon, a short drive from Bristol. A house has existed on the site since at least 1759, with the current property commissioned by the Will’s family in 1928 and finished in 1932, who made their fortune after founding the first company in the UK to mass-produce cigarettes. Its E-shaped layout is designed to mirror grand Jacobean manor houses, with its Bath stone exterior a nod to the local area. Coombe Lodge still retains the elegance of its past, largely due several original features, such as the distinctive limed oak panelling on the ground floor and staircase.
Such a grand setting naturally lends itself to being an ideal wedding venue. This forms the heart of the hotel’s offering, with reception of ceremonies from 50-160 guests catered for. A friendly and highly experienced team is on offer to plan every last detail of the big day and the hotel is licensed to carry our civil partnerships. Those after a church wedding can use the nearby St Andrew’s in Blagdon before then moving onto Coombe Lodge for the reception.
Four chandelier-lit rooms are on offer for ceremonies, each of which has views over the lodge’s 20 acres of surrounding land. Outdoor ceremonies can take place under the house’s stone archway, resulting in a picturesque and refined setting. Celebratory drinks are then served in the wood-panelled lounge and gallery, complete with open fire and grand piano. In the warmer months, guests can also take in the view from the balcony. An exclusive use package is on offer, granting you sole use of the venue and access to 12 exquisitely finished suites for you and your guests.
A range of food options can accompany the big day, covering everything from canapes on arrival to an evening menu once the party is well underway. Highlights include the Valencienne dinner menu and the Tourchon table feast.
