Set in the Essex countryside but with easy access to junction 7 of the M11 and Epping tube station, Blakes Golf Club combines all the charm of a rural venue with the convenience of holding your wedding in the big city – and not just for golf-mad wedding guests who might want to sneak in a round on the championship 18-hole links course before the wedding.
The modern Blakes Suite on the ground floor of the golf club can hold up to 120 guests for seated ceremonies (Blakes is licensed for marriage) and 150 standing and has a self-contained bar plus a large patio for fine weather, when guests can mingle against a backdrop of views over the golf club’s gardens.
Ceremonies can also be held outside as partners say their vows under a wedding gazebo, with the Essex countryside as the stunning backdrop. All that outdoor space is also brilliant for guests who have kids who want to play outside when all the grown-up chat becomes boring.
Inside, the room can play host to the wedding or civil ceremony as well as the wedding breakfast before transforming into an evening venue to party the night away, with the option of a late licence on request to continue the celebrations into the wee small hours.
More intimate parties can book the first-floor View Bar which, as the name says, has impressive vistas over the golf club grounds. Fifty guests can be accommodated for a ceremony followed by a wedding breakfast which can be as formal or informal as guests would like.
An in-house catering team is on hand to help assemble the ideal wedding menu according to taste and dietary requirements, with special attention paid to using seasonal ingredients sourced locally as far as possible.
Late day packages start at £2,980 for 60 day guests while an all-inclusive package for 70 guests costs £6,950.
