The Barnstaple Hotel is a hotel and wedding venue near the town of Barnstaple in North Devon. Settled since at least the 10th century, Barnstaple first made its name through wool manufacturing, with this being in the 18th century by the likes of lace, gloves, and fishing net production. The hotel is in the north west part of the town, not far from the banks of the River Taw.
Barnstaple prides itself on offering bespoke weddings of most sizes. Licensed for civil ceremonies, it can hold up to 250 guests for a ceremony and as many as 380 for the evening party. Ceremonies are typically held in either the Ashford Suite or the Arlington Suite. The former is filled with natural light and opens out onto the hotel’s well-maintained and inviting gardens, while the latter can be adapted with mood lighting to suit your theme and is better suited to more intimate ceremonies. The gardens are the perfect place to get the all important wedding photos.
Both these rooms are then transformed to host memorable evening parties. Combining the Arlington with the Heanton Bar/Restaurant results in the 380-capacity space that is perfect for large celebrations. All rooms can be customised to the couple’s exact tastes and are licensed for whatever entertainment they feel would suit their big day best.
Options for the wedding breakfast are varied, offering something that caters almost all tastes. Alongside the traditional three course sit down meal (which includes vegetarian and vegan options), there’s also a finger buffet for the evening or hot carved baps. A children’s menu is also available.
Both the guests and the newly married couple can stay over in the hotel before and after the big day. Facilities include a pool and spa, and the hotel is only a short journey from the beach.
