This diminutive five-year old ‘continues to impress’. Wow quietly & consistently serves up fresh Japanese food at fairly modest prices. In-the-know locals & the odd Michelin-starred chef squeeze themselves between the tightly packed tables (particularly busy on Friday & Saturday nights), welcomed by the agreeable staff. They are drawn by the enticing choice of sashimi, nigiri & maki, including a selection of specials such as the spider roll (soft-shell crab with avocado, tobiko & spicy sauce). For a more western three-course approach, you could start with ika kara age (deep-fried squid) then move on to noodle dishes or mains such as steak teriyaki or black cod with miso, before finishing with green tea ice cream. The wine list lacks wow factor, so as an alternative, sip, samurai-style, on Japanese plum wine or green tea.
