Water Lane walled garden and restaurant sits in the grounds of Tongswood House on the Kent Sussex borders. The restaurant has a seasonal menu which changes daily, depending on the locally sourced and homegrown produce available. Using no-dig organic methods to source much of the fruit and veg from the gardens, Water Lane Walled Garden cafe and restaurant has a produce-led English countryside inspired menu.
The restaurant sits in Carnation House which is warmed during the winter months. The interior is classic, stylish and simple much like the style of cooking at the restaurant. Open for breakfast, and lunch, you will find a range of dishes available at Water Lane Walled Garden. Breakfast dishes include options such as banana bread with maple butter, and homemade beans on toast. You can also go for a bacon bap or porridge served with toasted seeds and honey,
When it comes to lunch you will find dishes such as homemade squash soup served with sage and croutons, and gardener's pie served with salad. Other dishes include foraged mushrooms on toast,and whole plaice, clams, greens and tartare sauce, and spiced pea and kalamata stew with poppy seed flatbreads.
If you’re looking for desserts, you may find a chocolate and walnut tart on the menu, or a pear and prune crumble. There is often also a cheese option available.
Water Lane is open from 8am Wednesday to Friday, they are also open at the weekend with slightly later times. During the Summer months you can also dine outside under the awning. Dogs are welcome to come with you, but only on the outdoor tables.
