Turtle Bay has some real soul and character to it, bringing some of its well-known Caribbean-infused energy to the centre of Solihull. The exterior of the restaurant is colourful and lively, with outside seating, and matches an interior filled with multi-coloured furniture and eclectic art which surround an ever-busy bar and an open faced kitchen; there is no doubting that this is an energetic space.
The all-day menu offers a range of dishes; for breakfast you can choose things ranging from eggs and smashed avocado to the honey bunny yardbird, a dish inspired by chicken and waffles, utilising fresh roti instead. The main menu is extremely broad, you can choose from some simple and light options like burgers, buddha bowls and roti wraps with shredded jerk chicken or you can go for some heavier options such as West Indian Curries (think Caribbean curry katsu), soul food and jerk pit dishes - including jerk sirloin steak. All of this can be paired with some seriously tempting sides like the cheesy jerk fries or the Caribbean dumplings and a range of small plates which work well either as starters or as snacks to go with some drinks. The menu does a good job of providing both vegan and vegetarian options.
The drinks list has beers, wines and soft drinks as well as a long list of different styles of rum but focuses mainly on cocktails. The cocktail list includes some well known classics like the Jamaican Mule - spiced rum, fresh lime, ginger beer and bitters - as well as some more unique recipes like the Rum Runner - frozen blend, dark rum, Amaretto, blackberry, banana and lemon juice; these are best enjoyed during the daily happy hours or during the daily bottomless brunches which allows the table to choose from a list of selected brunch and main menu dishes as well as bottomless cocktails, mocktails, beers and wines.
