Opened in 1978, Tower Tandoori is an authentic family-ran Indian restaurant on Tower Bridge Road. Awash with warm, earthy tones and furnished with wooden fretwork screens, colourful wall-hangings and bright red chairs, it’s a pretty attractive find. The menu is a mix of the usual suspects – sheek kebab and chicken tikka – and more unusual vintage specialities, such as a slow-cooked goat vindaloo cooked with ground masala and naga chillies, and salmon tikka marinated in ginger, garlic, hung yoghurt and dill leaves. Desserts change weekly, but you can expect the likes of gulab jamun in a spicy chai, while there’s a selection of beers and wines on hand to cool you down. Takeaway available too.
