Three Tuns is in Aldgate, The City of London. It’s a short walk from Aldgate tube station, which is on the Circle and Metropolitan lines. Its decor and exterior is typical of pubs throughout Central London: dark furniture, compact footprint and furnishings that blend tradition with modernity.
Food is served from midday to 9pm on every day except Sunday. As is the case for so many pubs these days, only pizza is on offer. Toppings are varied and not afraid to veer far from tradition. Sitting firmly in that camp is the likes of Barbie chick (chicken, streaky bacon and BBQ sauce), Buffalo blue (buttermilk chicken, Stilton, Frank’s Redhot sauce) and Bombay (baby spinach, mushrooms, Bombay sauce),
Elsewhere, there’s the mighty meat (pepperoni, BBQ beef burnt ends, streaky bacon, chicken), nice and spice (BBQ beef burnt ends, ‘nduja, Cajun spice) and pepperoni. The easy cheesy can also be served vegan.
In addition to the usual run of draught lagers, ciders and ales, the drinks menu also features a strong selection of gins and cocktails. Gin options include Malfy Rosa, Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla and Gordon’s Premium Pink. Like all spirits, these can be doubled up for just £2.50 extra.
Six cocktails are also on offer: strawberry daiquiri, pornstar martini, berry blush, woo, sex on the beach and Long Island iced tea. You’ll also find a series of long drinks and spritzes, such as a Bacardi spiced rum mule, Jameson, ginger and lime and a melon drama (Malibu, cranberry juice and soda).
