thirty7 is a restaurant that is brought to Covent Garden by the founders of the critically acclaimed seafood restaurant and bar, The Oystermen. On Bedford Street, the brasserie style menu and feel act as a celebration of provenance and sustainability, serving up a selection of ingredient-led dishes. Founded by friends and restauranteurs, thirty7 is led by Matt Lovell and Rob Hampton, and is a space that feels both comfortable and innovative. You can grab a bite to eat and a drink for thirty7’s well stocked bar between 12 and 10pm on weekdays, and 10am until 10pm on the weekends.
The menu is designed to blend flavours from New York, Paris and beyond, and the head chef, Grant Clark, comes from Hearth, a popular restaurant in the East Village. To begin with try some snacks of pork fat fried peanuts with rosemary and cheddar beignets whilst you decide what you want to drink. For small plates, you’ll find it hard to choose. There are options of onion and bone marrow soup with Parmesan crouton and steak tartare with egg yolk and spring onion kraut. Larger plates include pairings of porcini risotto with peas and Parmesan and vadouvan spiced lamb shoulder with aubergine, yoghurt, cucumber and mint.
Dessert is a simple choice, yet we’d probably order both. For sweet tooth’s there’s the baked cheesecake with rhubarb, and for cheese lovers, a selection of three with crackers and chutney.
If you’re visiting during brunch hours on the weekend, the menu is a little different. First up, start the day with a punch and order a Cointreau based Sunrise cocktail before brunch dishes of French toast with fruit compote and maple syrup and a classic bacon, egg and cheese bap.
