Housed in a former coaching inn, The Three Crowns serves a range of pub classics in a traditional country setting - think thatched roof, original wooden beams, deep-set leather armchairs and an open roaring fire complemented by a range of cask ales. There’s a spacious garden terrace, perfect for both lunch and dinner al fresco or drinks in the sun.
The menu is extensive. As well as to-be-expected pub staples, you’ll find a full burger and pizza offering alongside highlights from across global cuisine. Starters include the timeless king prawn cocktail, slow-roasted tomato arancini and a whole sharing Camembert drizzled in orange blossom honey. For mains, fish and chips or the pie of the day speak to the The Three Crowns country pub ethos, with the likes of chicken and vegetable Penang curry and aubergine parmigiana also on offer for those who want to embrace the setting but eat further afield.
Sunday roast options include a year-round serving of turkey breast and pigs-in-blankets. Those unable to choose a meat can opt for the Sunday trio - beef, pork belly and turkey, served (as are all the roasts) with unlimited gravy. The vegetarian offering is a candied vegetable roast topped with pumpkin seeds and served with a tomato sauce.
The pizzas are stone-baked to order. Choose from margherita, pepperoni or sticky duck and hoisin, the latter using a base that combines traditional Italian tomato with sweet and salty Cantonese. For grill fans, there’s a signature burger topped with beef brisket and streaky bacon or a selection of steaks.
The Three Crowns is part of the 180-location-strong Vintage Inns pub network. Priding themselves on offering the quintessential country pub dining experience, each of their pubs is also dog-friendly and can be hired out for special occasions.
